Curtis Mays - Head Coach
Coach Mays attended University of Nevada Reno. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration at University of Phoenix. Coach Mays has been teaching for 20 years and has taught various grade levels throughout his career.

Brandon Hawkins
Offensive Coordinator- QB's
Coach Brandon Hawkins has been coaching over the past 20+ years. He has been a Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator at Otay Ranch, Eastlake, San Ysidro and his alma mater Bonita Vista HS. Brandon is committed to the positive development of the youth in his neighborhood and continues to stay connected beyond their playing years. All 3 of his children (including his daughter, Brooklyn) have played D1 football with Dad as their coach. Outside of football, Brandon leads CFO Hub, a Fractional Outsourced Financial Consulting firm based in La Jolla, CA. He has no pets.
C.J, Marin- Offensive Line
Offensive Line
Coach Marin comes to Mar Vista after several successful seasons coaching within the district as our offensive line coach. He has been coaching football and rugby for the last twelve years at varying capacities including position coach, offensive coordinator as well as a head coach. He has been fortunate enough to coach for several winning programs, including a trip to the Pop Warner Superbowl, his team finishing fourth in the country. Outside of football, he races motocross, plays hockey for the San Diego Heat and rugby for both the South Bay Stingrays as well as the Victoria (AUS) Vikings in the World Police and Fire Games. Professionally, he is fire captain/paramedic for San Miguel Fire and Rescue in east county. He is married, and just had his first child in March. He is a long time resident of Imperial Beach, and is very excited to be apart of the Mar Vista football family.

Jeremy McAtee
Offensive WR
Coach McAtee is a current US Navy Veteran of over 21 combined years. He is married to his wife Crystal for the last 9 years & they have 5 beautiful children with the two oldest being Mar Vista High Graduates. He has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Coach Mac comes to the Mar Vista High Varsity Staff has over a decade of experience coaching on the youth level as an Assistant, Head Coach, & OC. He was most recently was the RB/DB Coach at San Ysidro, Bonita Vista, & last season at Montgomery High School. Plus the Assistant Head Coach & OC for the SSD Bandits 14U Spring Football team. He grew up, raised his family, & played football as a youth & in high school in the South San Diego Imperial Beach area. Ecstatic to have the opportunity to be a part of the next chapter of Mar Vista Mariners Football!

Coach Reed was born and raised locally in the South Bay area of San Diego County. He attended Marian High school where he played football, baseball and basketball. After graduation he attended Southwestern Community College where he played football and ran track. His football
skills provided him with a number of college athletic scholarship offers, including Utah State University (USU). Coach Reed chose Utah State University, starting at defensive back for the Aggies for two years. His senior year his football and classroom abilities were recognized and he was selected as an Academic All-American.
In 1974 Coach Reed started his coaching career as a "graduate assistant" at Utah State University, while working on his Master's Degree in History. After completing his graduate work at
USU he returned to the San Diego area. His coaching experience, in the San Diego area, began in 1976 at Southwest High School. Since that time he has coached at Marian High School (2x), Santana High School, Sweetwater High School (2x), Bonita Vista High School, Hilltop High School
and Southwestern Community College. In 2016 Coach Reed returned to his athletic/educational roots, in the Imperial Beach area, joining the football coaching staff at Mar Vista High School, the home of the MARINERS.
